Meet some of our knitters. Wawas is currently working with a group of women in the Buenos Aires area in the creation of our pieces. All knitters are paid by the job before it's sold and they are provided with the material they need to work. Every piece comes with a tag identifying the knitter that created it.

CRISTINA lives in Boulogne
(Buenos Aires), she has 9 children
and about 10 grandchildren. She's
an expert knitter and she's also in
charge of overseeing production
and training other knitters. Her
husband was laid off more than a
year ago.
MARISA is 47 years old and she
is a single mother of a 14 year
old. She lives in a town called
San Fernando and she
specialises in crochet knit.
MONONA is 74 years old. She has
5 children, 13 grandchildren and 3
great grandchildren. She helps
giving finishing touches to all
pieces & she also helps recruits
other knitters from the group of
volunteers in the local hospital.
NANCY lives in Tigre (by the "Rio
de la Plata" just outside of Buenos
Aires). She's a mother of two
children and a proud
grandmother. She's 65 years old
and she started knitting in the last
few years. She was able to
overcome a severe depression
through her knitting with Wawas.
MARTA has 7 children and she is
a widow. She lives in a town
called Martinez with her mother
in law.
